How will character progression work? Will you be raising the level cap?

GW, unlike most MMO's, tells a story. Most other MMO's are much more like a collection of GW sidequests. Kill 10 this. Collect 10 that. There may be some intresting quest chains, but they peter out without a big payoff. The fact that Anet plans to include "a strong narrative" is the most encouraging thing I've heard that there will be a central story. That's the good news.

Auto-scaling mobs? I'll hold my opinions until I see it, but that does not sound like something I'll enjoy.

This is just my guess, but what that sounds like is simply mobs becoming more difficult when more players are in your group, therefore when you solo you won't be fighting a very difficult enemy unless it is suppose to be very difficult, also when you have a full group (like in GW1 getting a caravan run from ToA to Ascalon) the enemies are harder. It seems like an attempt to balance the "player vs monster" concept. Don't really know how it will work in a persistent world, so we'll have to wait and see.
The more I hear about GW2, the more interested I am .

I'm kinda disappointed that they didn't choose to expand the choices of playable races. I mean... we have lots of somewhat sentient species that could be used... Tengu, Centaurs, and Hecket just to name a few.
Earlier there was a lot of speculation that those races a.net announced originally (sylarian, norn, asuran, human, and charr) weren't going to be all of them (since the wording in the PC Gamer was kinda ambiguous, a lot of people thought a.net was holding out). This, however, looks fairly definitive that that is all we are going to get.

Random question, but how are 5 races even going to work? Presumably, each race will be either hostile, neutral or allied with every other race. Five doesn't allow for obvious ways to have allies and foes.
There could be one neutral race, and of the remaining four, two fight the other two. That is asymetrical and probably not the case.
There could be some kind of round robin where each race had 2 friendly races and 2 hostily relationships. The only way to make that balance across the races would be to make your allies not like each other.
Still seems like one more race (total of 6) is most likely.

It is possible that the playable races are all allies towards each other, with maybe an exception of Humans and Charr, possibly Norn could be Hostile to others, or just Neutral that challenges travelers. Asurans, as they control trade and travel it seems in GW2, are probably neutral overall.
We know that Dredge and the Norn are at war, so its possible that the main hostilities will exist between playable races and (currently) non-playable races.

Personally, I would almost hope they didn't set any alliances in stone. It would be nice if they left that to the players in some way.
And also, if they don't add playable races now, there's always expansion packs with new stories. I wouldn't mind holding off on playing a centaur until we had access to the Elonian race of them (Not a fan of the Maguma or Crystal Desert ones). Or Tengu; I'd prefer to play a Canthan Tengu instead of a Krytan one.

Actually the way I understand it the more in your party the more in numbers of the creatures you have to fight, ie mob scaling. think of it in reverse of loot scaling. But lets hope not.

Although most if this is already known to the Guru-people, it's a good thing this info is on the official page. It just might attract some new players.
And yay, no Beta in 2008! Still plenty of time to play and finish GW1.

Agree on that. For me it's one of the big differences between GW and other MMO's, an actual story.

They're probably holding more races back for expansions if GW2 succeeds. Tengu for Cantha and Centaurs for Elona ect.
